We had an Orchestra Leader's Meeting last night. I tried to talk John out of having it at "On the Border", but he insisted. (OK. That is a lie. That is my favorite restaurant and nobody else had an opinion.)
We are getting ready for a big Easter weekend at the Yellow Box with the Orchestra. I am very excited about the songs we are doing. There is no sound as big and powerful on Praise Choruses than a 40 piece orchestra. I was particularly excited that the full orchestration of Tim Hughes' "Happy Day" came out just a couple weeks ago, as well as the full orchestration for "Hosanna" by Hillsong United (my current favorite song). "Happy Day" is a brand new favorite song at our church and we are using that song during baptisms with the orchestra. It will be AWESOME!
Here is our Easter play list:
1) Everlasting God (Brenton Brown, but remade by everyone and their dog!)
2) Happy Day (Tim Hughes)
3) Hosanna (Hillsong United)
4) How Great is Our God (Chris Tomlin)
5) I've Found Jesus (The old Delirious song.)
We also talked about a new opportunity at Naperville North High School, where we might finally move the orchestra to a set playing rotation once a month.
A couple of the leaders also asked about what it would take to begin to rotate the orchestra to other campuses. We will see. We use to do that more. Maybe we can begin to do that again.
Left to Right: Mike Wdovech (Sax Section Leader), John Tuck (Orchestra Conductor, Large Ensembles Coach and Trumpet Section Leader), Christine Tuck (Clarinet Section Leader), me (nothing leader, but huge fan of the Orchestra), Bernice Gulbro (String Section leader), Becca Heye (Flute Section Leader), and JR Morales (Trombone Section Leader).
